What to do in Lapland?

You have heard about Lapland and now you would like to pay a visit
to see for yourself what it's all about. But you are not exactly
sure what there's to experience.
Let me help you!
To start with; hiking
trips and special winter
activities have their own pages, and on this page you can find
everything else. Many of the suggestions found here can be done
any time of the year. Like sightseeing and shopping.
Look at all the different possibilities below.
Tell me how many days you would like to spend here and what you
would like to experience. I'll then put together a special package
for you. Don't forget that you can combine these suggestions with
hiking trips
or winter activities.
And it goes without saying that if you would like to experience
or do something that is not listed on any of my pages, just ask
me and I'll do my best!
You don't loose anything by asking.
There are no strings attached to your request. It is perfectly fine
if you later decide not to choose my services.

• Sami Culture
Duodji (handicraft), Jojk (singing), History, Shamanism and Reindeers.
• Matsutake
Hunting
Said to be the most expensive mushroom in the world. A special
delicacy in Japan with prices reaching $100 for one mushroom at
the height of the season. Plan to be here in August - September
if you want these beauties.
• Sightseeing and Shopping
Let's visit some places of interest and local craftsmen and artists.
Good old, traditional tourism.
• Norway
If you want to see fjords and sample the Norwegian culture with
it's viking heritage, it's only a few hours drive away.
• Finland
The country of Sauna and tango, Leningrad Cowboys, Moomin and
Lordi. See for yourself if it's like in the movies. Gloomy and
serious. The Beatles thought of it as a boring place and a French
minister complained about the food. Finland has a lot of expectations
to live up to.
• Berries
Would you like to pick your own berries and make jam to take back
home? Blueberries, Cloudberries, Raspberries, Lingonberries, Cranberries,
Arctic Raspberries and Crowberries are available depending on
the season and year.
• Mushrooms
One of my specialties. I don't know all the species, far from
it, but I do know a good number of edible mushrooms, and I know
which ones to leave alone.
• Fishing
I am not a skilled fisherman myself but I have friends,
professional instructors, who can teach you all the local secrets.
Graylings, Arctic Char, Pike, Trout and Salmon are on the menu.
• Birding Special
Early june is the best time. Most of the migratory birds have
now arrived, all of them being busy mating and fighting. We could
start at the costal region in the Gulf of Bothnia, work our way
through forests, lakes, bogs and mountains, and finish it of at
the Atlantic cost of Norway.
• Northern Lights, Aurora Borealis
Northern Lights have a popular connection to the dark winter skies
but the best chances too see them are actually at the autumn and
spring equinoxes in September and March. Because of the favorable
alignment of the magnetic fields of the sun and the earth.
