Comfortable, water proof hiking boots or shoes, sized to fit over two layers of socks (Do NOT buy new shoes right before you come! Chafed feet would defenitely ruin your trip.)
Comfortable day pack (about 50 liters)
Waterproof gaiters or similar to use when we ford streams (or you could follow my example and take of your pants and change to sandals when we walk in deeper water)
Warm hat (for cold, windy days and to keep you warm when you sleep)
Summer cap or hat (to protect from sun shine)
Light weight gloves
2 pr. light weight liner socks (capilene, polypropylene, or silk are excellent )
1 pr. warm wool or fleece socks sized to fit over the liner socks (even in summer it is a good idea to use double layers to avoid chafed feet)
1 pr. warm socks to use when you sleep
1 pr. capilene, polypropylene or silk top and bottom long underwear
1 fleece top or wool sweater
