Mixed things from today's stage between Tarraluoppal
and Tuoddar.
We are now about 10 km from the geographical point which is considered
to be the most inaccessible area in Sweden. From no other place
is it as far to a road. If you drew a straight line it would be
about 45 km to Kvikkjokk from here, but in real life it is a bit
more. We have now hiked about 55 km.
For our ascent earlier, we are now rewarded with an alpine tableland
with numerous small lakes and grassy low hills. Long-tailed ducks
and Snow buntings spend their summers up here.
Sometimes you can see footsteps made by other hikers, and sometimes
animal tracks. Usually by reindeers.
It is barren. It is desolate. And yet there is something. Something
that defies description but make me want to experience it over
and over again.
No guarantee of success, but who could blame you for trying?
