Photos and information about the hiking trail between Kvikkjokk
and Njunjes.
To begin with, a 3 km boat ride will take us
through the Pearl-river delta to our starting point. Except for
the first km of marshlands after the landing-stage, we'll be walking
mostly in coniferous forests consisting of both fir and pine.
We need to cross a number of small bogs today, and if the weather
hasn't`t been too bad for the last days, the duckboards should
be enough to keep our feet dry.
Compared with the next coming two days, this trail is very easy
to walk. Almost no elevation or obstacles on the trail makes for
an easy starter. Occasionally the trail touches the river we are
following upstream through the valley, and those places are well
suited for breaks. Shortly before arriving to Njunjes we will
pass something resembling a jungle with its abundant vegetation.
It is a peculiar feeling walking through high ferns and monkhood,
knowing that we are now approaching mountains well above the
arctic circle.
