Unna Visttascohkka

A four kilometer long table mountain with the sharp edge of the precipice at an elevation of 1500 meters and the Visttasjavri-lake 500 meters right below.

Unna Visttascohkka can be visited as a part of the Kings Trail all inclusive package. We'll reach the area day 4, when we hike between Alesjaure and Tjäktja.

Unna visttasvaggi

This photo of Unna Visttascohkka is taken from the north face of Påssustjåkka at an elevation of about 1700 meters.
In other words, 700 meters down to the lake.

Sitting on the slope of Unna Visttascohkka

I am pretty sure it would be possible to sit here for a whole day and just be filled by the "spirit" of the place. After all, the evolution in our bodies and minds have not just yet caught up with the social and technical ditto, and it makes us good to sometimes place ourselves in an environment like this. To throw away all excess garbage, reformat our minds, and to reinstall a clean, new system with only the necessary basic functions. A simple life, free of complications.

The stony slope of Unna Visttascohkka

In the beginning we can climb on grassy slopes, but soon the terrain turn into this mess of stones. I have actually never been all the way up to the plateau yet, but from what I have heard, the walking conditions never get much better than this. But I am positive that the experience and view from this mountain is worth all the effort.

The bottom of the Lapetus sea between Europe and North America was squeezed up on land when the two continents crashed 370 million years ago. You can now see the petrified sediment layers high up in the mountains. The Appalachian Mountains in North America are made of the same stuff.

Dolphin

There must be a sad kid somewhere.

Alisvaggi seen from Unna Visttascohkka

That is where we came from, Alisvaggi-valley and the Kings Trail. On the other side of the valley, towards left, you may see a small lake between the mountains. That is the goal of another optional trip in this area, Gungarrlehppi.

Other places nearby
Unna Visttasvaggi, a side valley close to the Kings Trail.
Påssustjåkka, a 1935 meter peak.
Gungarrlehppi, paternoster lakes below a glacier and plenty of flowers.

This place (Unna Visttascohkka) can be visited as a part of the Kings Trail all inclusive package. We'll reach the area day 4, when we hike between Alesjaure and Tjäktja.
