Stuor Jierta

Not as difficult as it may look like from a distance. Being at the end of Tjäktjavagge, Stuor Jierta offer a grand view of the whole valley and many of the peaks you may have climbed earlier.

Stuor Jierta can be visited as a part of the Kings Trail all inclusive package. We'll reach the mountain day 7, when we hike from Sälka to Singi. Stuor Jierta is close to the Singi cabins, and if it's not too late, the weather permits and you feel like it, we can give it a try.

Beginning of the climb.

In the beginning the terrain is covered with both blueberries and crowberries. There are also some lone dwarf birches sprinkled here and there, but occasionally they also appear in denser stands obstructing our climb. There is no marked trails up to the top.

Green slope with some stones.

It is an easy walk until we arrive to the steeper and stonier parts.

Stnes and grass. And a hidden bird.

Areas with stone-slides alter with grassy terrain. The higher we get, the more there are stones. There is a ptarmigan hiding in this picture.

Barren, stony slope, and distant peaks.

View towards west. The snow covered peaks in the distance belong to Maidahacohkka and Rezebakti.

River, green slopes and barren peaks.

Stuor Avrrik to the left and Unna Avrrik to the right. Further in the distance you can see the snow covered peaks of Rusjka and Sälka.

A zebra mountain.

From the peak of Stuor Jierta looking north-east. Liddupakti, 1759 meters.
