Day 7, Sälka - Singi

looking back towards the S¯lka cabins.
Winter trails are marked by these poles.

Before we arrive at Singi, there is a shortcut to Kebnekaise. Some
hikers skip Singi and head directly to the mountain lodge, saving
themselves an extra 8 kilometers.
A fenced round-up ground for reindeers. The mountain in front us
is Madir.

A small maypole to celebrate midsummer. As with many other Swedish
traditions, this one comes originally from Germany. But it could
very well have a much longer history, going way back to Central
Asia and the shamanic fertility rituals at spring

This way to Kaitum.

August 1st, 21:40. The sun is not yet at it's lowest, but it won't
get completely dark even when it is. The midnight sun was at it's
peak at the end of June, around the 21st.
