Mt. Sälka
We can climb the snow covered 1865 meter peak, or stay at the
lower outlook. The photos below are all from the lower level.
Mt. Sälka can be visited as a part of the Kings
Trail all inclusive package. We'll reach the area day 5, when
we hike between Tjêktja and Sêlka, and
it is one of possible day trips day 6.

The lower outlook of the Sälka massive. A total of 1340 meters,
or 500 meters above the cabins
Same mountain seen from Mielkeriehppi.
On this photo taken from Ceakcahjälmen,
we can see the highest peak of the Sälka massive (1865 m) and
the flat, lower outlook.
The small valley between the two mountains, that's where we are
heading today to start with.

Here we have crossed the Tjäktjajåkka creek. The three
mountains on the other side are, starting from right; Gaskkasnjunni
(1721 m), Ceakcahjälmen (1906 m) and Vaktposten (1852 m). We
are standing at the 800 meter level.

The grassy meadows come with flowers, and we should find some typical
arctic species along the climb.

One reason to climb the mountain from this direction is the possibility
to spend some time by this lake. A beautiful place to take a swim
before we continue our climb. A grandiose view and maybe some reindeers
on the snow covered spots.

A wolverine's den.
The top is flat, but to get up there, we need to pass this pretty
steep section of loose stones. We don't have to come back the same
way.
Glacial
buttercups near the top.
The top is flat and not completely barren. The stones are covered
with lichen and moss.
