Gungarrlehppi
Paternoster lakes below the Gungarjiehkki glacier provide us with
inspiring surroundings while we engage ourselves in arctic flower
spotting.
Gungarrlehppi can be visited as a part of the Kings
Trail all inclusive package. We'll reach the area day 4, when
we hike between Alesjaure and Tjäktja.

A chain of glacial lakes at different altitudes connected by strings
of water, where the lakes at higher ground feed the ones below.
Paternoster lakes got their name from someone who thought the system
resembled a rosary bead. Here we have three lakes in the chain.
Or four if we also count the small pond right below the glacier,
not visible in the photo above

If we arrive hiking along the Kings Trail, we need to ford Aliseatnu.
A dry summer it is possible to get to the other side with high legged
rubber boots.

The lakes are deep and filled with crystal clear water. On a hot,
sunny day, it is hard to think of a more beautiful place to take
a cooling swim. And if the summer hasn't been too cold, the surface
water could actually be surprisingly warm.

A great place to botanize for arctic flowers!

Unna Visttasvaggi, a side valley
close to the Kings Trail.

kilometer long table mountain.
