Giant's Cauldrons

Not far from the Kebnekaise Mountain Lodge a creek has carved beautiful, rounded shapes from stones.

This area can be visited as a part of the Kings Trail all inclusive package. We'll reach the area day 8, when we hike from Singi to Kebnekaise.

Suspension bridge.

We cross this bridge on our way to the giant's cauldrons. Duolbagorni (the peak to the left) and Kitteldalen (the valley between the peaks) in the background. The longer, but easier, western route to the highest peak in Sweden passes thru kitteldalen.

A small creek

The area with potholes and round-shaped rocks is not very big. But it is still a nice place to spend a lazy hour admiring soft shapes and holes. And it is very close to the Mountain Lodge.

Soft shaped stones

Water rushing over a stone

Small potholes in the stream

Stone under water

Some of the rocks remind me of modern sculptures. These works by nature easily surpass many of the human efforts, and in this environment they all have meaning and history.

Potholes are created when the rushing water move around grinding stones.
