Alesjaure cabins
Day 3
Welcome to enjoy the highest standard of living between Abisko and
Kebnekaise. The bunks and the kitchen are pretty much as basic as
in the rest of the cabins along this trail, but Alesjaure is also
equipped with a store and a sauna and, hold your breath, a cafeteria!

We have seen these buildings at the other end of lake Alisjavri
for a long time before we reach them. If we choose to walk all the
way, this is how the scenery looks like when we arrive at the cabins.

The cabins seen from the opposite direction.

This is the view from the cafeteria. You can have tea, coffee or
hot chocolate, and some cookies or biscuits to go with it. A very
luxurious treat really. And even more so in the winter I would imagine,
when any kind of warm beverage inside a warm building would feel
like good value regardless of price.

Hut warden's old faithful friend, Putte. He has his own place on
a reindeer pelt, put in a strategic place where he can keep an eye
on everyone who dare to enter the building.

One more detail of luxury at Alesjaure. You don't need to climb
down to the stream to bring up water. This ingenious pump takes
care of it without any need of electricity.

The sauna. Can you picture yourself sitting on the veranda with
a beer or some other drink of your choice, and enjoy the midnight
sun in the midst of this arctic scenery? While your steaming body
slowly attracts the interest of mosquitoes, the worries and hassles
of the mundane world slowly fall into oblivion. It is possible to
climb the wooden stairs down to the stream and take a dip. But if
the water level is low, you need to lie down full length and hope
that your body is slim enough to get thoroughly soaked.
