THE MAP OF JAPAN

THE NIPPON PORTAL

The parade of the ages. A spectacular line of people and artifacts from the different periods in Japanese history. From the time of the Meiji restoration back to the Heian period. Not to be missed if you are in Kyoto at the right time. 22 October that is.

For the more than two thousand participants it takes about three ours to make it from the old imperial palace to the Heian Shrine. It is very crowded at the beginning and end points, so to be sure to get a good spot for your tripod, be there in advance. At the Heian shrine where the parade ends, the last section of the road is lined up with chairs for specially invited or paying customers.
